The Vision

This land is where my heart is. As a preschool teacher in our local schools, I kept dreaming of something more—a place where learning happens in the woods instead of between walls. Where children build character and courage through adventure. Where faith and nature aren't separate subjects but woven into everyday.

At Wildwood Academy, every day is an opportunity to learn about God's creation by caring for animals, discovering what lives under the logs and in the treetops, and to get dirty and be a kid!

It's a time for our children to discover that they are fearfully and wonderfully made. Through primitive skills, outdoor exploration, and the unhurried rhythms of country life, children grow strong in confidence, curiosity, and faith.

Along with nature exploration, we

learn age appropriate reading and writing skills in a fun, interactive way along with faith based activities.

What do Wildwood days look like?
 Sample:

8:45- 9:00a  -  Drop off

Children arrive ready for the day, and eagerly start playing with others, exploring toys, books, etc. around the indoor classroom area.

9:00- 9:40a  -   Typical Academics

I believe in the value of introducing traditional classroom style activities such as name recognition, alphabet/numbers/counting/etc. These are fun learning activities that help introduce little ones to pencil grasp, scissor use, letter sounds. We generally keep a journal to showcase alot of our work!

9:40-10:00a  -  Bible Study

What could be more important than the presence of God in our daily lives? Children learn about the Bible, Prayer, biblical stories, and daily Faith devotions that are geared just for young ones! God in Nature is one of my favorite children's devotion books!

10:00- 11:00  -  To the Barn

Bringing the elements of being in the barn, around animals, and learning about their needs & care is simply irreplaceable! At Wildwood children are encouraged to ask questions, do barn chores, participate in daily routine animal feeding and care. The kids always love their time in the barn and we often do a storytime in the hay loft!

11:00 - 12:00   -  Lunch Break

Wash up from our work at the barn, and start gathering for lunch. We often do picnics, or eat family style at the table in the shop where the classroom is! As they finish up lunch, the children often play and gather in the classroom area, restroom breaks, teamwork cleaning up after lunch is a must!

12:00 - 1:45p  -  The Great Outdoors

All season play is highly valued at Wildwood. We run through sprinklers in the heat, sled in the snow and take on a new adventure everyday during this time! We do soooo much! We hike, learn about plants & animals, play, forage, build, explore, take risks, work together, read, create, and most of all complete immerse ourselves in Gods beautiful world!

2:00 -  Pick Up

We head back in from our outdoor adventures, gather up our things, sometimes snack and get ready to head home!
